Article Processing and Timelines

All submitted manuscripts to Nibras: Journal of Islamic Education undergo a structured and rigorous evaluation process to ensure academic quality and integrity:

1. Initial Screening & Formatting Assessment

  • Technical Compliance: Submissions must strictly comply with the journal's Author Guidelines and official Template. Manuscripts failing to meet general structural, technical formatting, or presentation standards may be returned to authors prior to formal evaluation.
  • Editorial Desk Review: The Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor conducts an initial assessment using an editorial checklist to evaluate the submission's alignment with the journal's Focus & Scope, word count, originality, and general scholarly quality.
  • Preliminary Decision: Manuscripts deemed out of scope, poorly formatted, or lacking sufficient academic rigor will be rejected directly without peer review (Desk Rejection). Submissions meeting all baseline criteria are assigned to a Handling Editor to manage the review process.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review Process

  • Review Policy: Manuscripts passing initial screening advance to expert review under a Double-Blind Peer Review system. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain completely anonymous throughout the evaluation.
  • Reviewer Confidentiality: Evaluative feedback and reports provided by reviewers are strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to third parties without prior written consent.
  • Timeline for Initial Decision: Authors can expect an initial editorial notification—or formal update regarding delays—within 8 weeks from the date of submission.
  • Revision Window: When revisions are required, authors must submit their revised manuscript along with a point-by-point response letter addressing reviewers' comments within 14 days (2 weeks).
  • Final Editorial Decision: The final decision (Accept, Revision, or Reject) rests exclusively with the Editor-in-Chief, informed by the recommendations of the peer reviewers.

3. Confidentiality Statement

The editorial team, handling editors, and reviewers are fully committed to maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all submitted manuscripts, supporting datasets, and related communications prior to official publication, in full accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics.
