Article Processes and Timelines

1. Initial Screening & Formatting Assessment

All submissions to Commentary: Journal of Hadith Studies must strictly adhere to the journal's Author Guidelines. Manuscripts that fail to comply with the technical formatting, structural layout, or accessibility criteria may be returned to the authors prior to any formal academic evaluation.

Submitted papers must represent original research conducted by the author(s). Upon receipt, the Editor-in-Chief (or Managing Editor) conducts a preliminary screening using an editorial checklist to evaluate the manuscript’s alignment with the journal’s focus and scope, word count requirements, and general submission standards. Manuscripts deemed out of scope, improperly formatted, or lacking sufficient academic rigor will be rejected directly without being sent for peer review (desk rejection). Submissions that meet all initial requirements are assigned to a handling Editor, who will manage the subsequent evaluation process focusing on originality, scholarly contribution, relevance, and presentation quality.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review Process

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening proceed to expert evaluation. Commentary: Journal of Hadith Studies operates a strict double-blind peer review system, ensuring that the identities of both authors and reviewers remain completely anonymous throughout the process.

Reviewers' evaluations and feedback are strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to third parties without prior written approval from the reviewers. Authors can typically expect an editorial decision—or a formal notice of delay—within 8 weeks from the date of submission.

If revisions are requested, the corresponding author must submit the revised manuscript along with a point-by-point response to the reviewers' comments within 14 days (2 weeks). The final editorial decision (Accept, Revision, or Reject) rests with the Editor-in-Chief, guided by the recommendations provided during the peer-review process.

3. Confidentiality

The editorial team and reviewers are committed to maintaining the utmost confidentiality regarding all submitted manuscripts prior to official publication, in full alignment with our Publication Ethics policies.
