About the Journal

Exegesis: Journal of Qur'anic Studies is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing scholarly research on the Qur'an and its rich interpretive traditions. Published biannually in May and November, the journal serves as an international academic platform for scholars, researchers, and intellectuals to disseminate critical, innovative, and interdisciplinary inquiries in the field of Qur'anic sciences.

The journal welcomes original research articles and rigorous analytical papers exploring diverse dimensions of Qur'anic scholarship, including but not limited to:

·         Tafsir and Hermeneutical Methodologies: Critical readings of classical (turath) and modern/contemporary exegesis, alongside theoretical developments in Qur'anic hermeneutics, methodologies, and interpretive trends.

·         Qur'anic Sciences (Ulum al-Qur'an) and Qira'at: In-depth studies on Asbab al-Nuzul, abrogation (Nasikh-Mansukh), contextual classification (Makki-Madani), and textual inimitability (I'jaz), as well as textual variants (qira'at), orthography (rasm), and structural analysis.

·         Living Qur'an and Social Reception: Empirical and analytical inquiries into societal, cultural, and ritual engagements with the Qur'an, including traditions of recitation, memorization, therapeutic applications, and artistic expressions such as calligraphy and architecture.

·         Philology and Qur'anic Manuscripts: Codicological and paleographic analysis of ancient manuscripts, history of textual codification, textual criticism, and transmission history of the Qur'anic text.

·         Linguistics, Semantics, and Translation Studies: Linguistic frameworks including Arabic semantics, rhetoric (balaghah), and discourse analysis, as well as the history, theories, and challenges of translating the Qur'an into world languages.

·         The Qur'an and Contemporary Issues: Interdisciplinary intersections between Qur'anic guidance and modern challenges, such as human rights, gender dynamics, environmental ethics, science and technology, and political discourse.

·         Digital Qur'an and Humanities: Critical approaches to digital Qur'an platforms, social media reception, computational linguistics, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) applied to Qur'anic texts.
